Tell Senators Brown and Kerry to Save Basic Environmental Protections

The U.S. House of Representatives recently approved a "Continuing Resolution" (CR) to the 2011 budget that would gouge $100 billion from programs that don't have money to shed! The CR will now be sent to the Senate for a vote.
The cuts are immense: EPA gets slashed by 29%, the popular Land and Water Conservation Fund and Forest Legacy each get reduced by 90%, State Wildlife Grants, the Wetlands Conservation Fund, the Clean Technology Fund, and other environmental programs are also zeroed out. Even worse are the policy riders unrelated to the budget in the CR that would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from doing its job. Language in the CR prohibits EPA from enforcing key parts of the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts, and from regulating carbon emissions.
For detailed information, visit National Wildlife Federation.
TAKE ACTION!
Please take a moment to call or write Senators Brown and Kerry to say:
- The cuts in the Continuing Resolution are disturbing to you and to wildlife, water, air, EPA and Interior
- We should not scrap our most fundamental and successful environmental and health protections by appropriator edict, and
- Ask how $3.6 Billion in giveaways to oil companies survive while EPA + Interior get eviscerated by $4.4 Billion.
Thanks for your help on this important issue!
