BOSTON - November 17, 2008 - The federal Environmental Protection Agency now requires commercial and industrial property owners along the Charles River to divert storm water run off in order to cut pollution.

The EPA says excessive phosphorus pollution is threatening public health and recreation in the Charles River. Phosphorus level in the Charles are more than twice what is allowed under the Clean Water Act. The pollution has resulted in a record number of toxic algae blooms.

Ken Moraff of the EPA's Office of Ecosystem Protection joins us to discuss the new regulations.
