It is a Bay State invasion.

Water chestnuts are taking over water ways, threatening vegetation and marine life.

A water chestnut is an aquatic plant that can choke water in shallow sections close to shorelines.

On Sunday afternoon, the fight is on to remove the invasive species from the Charles River.

NECN reporter Prat Thakkar is in Boston with more on the clean-up project.
