Community Calendar - 29th Annual Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race

Join the Charles River Watershed Association for their 29th annual “Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race." The event offers professional, amateur and recreational canoe and kayak races which include local, national, and even international entries from ages 12 and up. The race is a sure sight to be seen with more than 1,500 racers and thousands of spectators lining the outskirts of the river. The races range from 6 to 24 miles and include both relays and a Professional Canoe Marathon. The public is also welcome to join in on the race and celebrate Boston's Charles River at the free Finish Line Festival, which features food, live music, awards, outdoor sports demonstrations, and post-race picnics. Come show support and enjoy yourself at the biggest and best canoe and kayak event in New England.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 8:30 AM on the Charles River, with races starting in Dedham, Needham, Newton, and Allston. All races will finish on Soldiers Field Road in Brighton.
