By Ashley Studley

Milford Daily News, Monday, March 15, 2010

Charles River tonight could reach moderate flooding levels, potentially affecting several of its communities like Medway, Milford and Bellingham.

Glenn Field, warning coordinator meteorologist for the National Weather Service Forecast Office, said this afternoon the river was measured at  6.3 feet and is expected to rise.

“Moderate flooding occurs at 7 feet, and we’re expected to reach 7.5 later tonight,” he said.

Julie Wood, a scientist for the Charles River Watershed Association, said a reading taken at 2:45 this afternoon at the Medway part of the river measured 6.2 feet.

“That is definitely higher than we’ve seen in the past few months,” she said of the particular area, which usually runs between 1 and 2 feet in height.
