Bequests
What better way to insure future generation's good health and the enjoyment of the crown jewel of this region, the Charles, than to provide for CRWA through your estate? Income from your bequest will be used to further river protection programs in years to come.
You can designate in your will that CRWA should receive cash, stock, real estate, or tangible property, and your estate will benefit by saving federal estate taxes. In this way, you can make a significant and meaningful gift, while preserving your assets during your lifetime. Unrestricted bequests provide funds for CRWA's general operations and are particularly useful because they allow the association to respond to needs as they change over time.
Recommended bequest language for Unrestricted Bequests: "I bequeath to the Charles River Watershed Association, a charitable corporation established by the law at Weston in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (insert here the amount in dollars, percentage of estate, complete description of the securities, real estate or property). Donors may designate whether they want the principal to be added to the endowed funds of the Association if they wish.
Please note that this is general information and is not presented as specific legal or tax advise. Ned Watts,
member of CRWA's Board of Advisors and an Estate and Tax Attorney, has offered to assist any donor who wishes some complimentary legal advise if they are considering a bequest donation to CRWA. Donors are encouraged to consult with your attorney before making a bequest. For additional information, please contact Peggy Sunshine.
