Stormwater Runoff

Rain and snowmelt flows over surfaces like driveways, roads, and parking lots before it is soaked into the ground naturally or enters storm drains. As this runoff flows over these impervious surfaces, it picks up pollution like excess fertilizers, bacteria and animal waste, road salt, and excess sediment and soil, and this mixture often flows into storm drains, where it is eventually discharged into nearby water bodies.
