1) Membership and Events Coordinator

CRWA is seeking a full-time entry-level membership and events coordinator to process member gifts, coordinate events, manipulate MS Access donor database, and handle donor stewardship. The right candidate will be detail oriented, highly organized, energetic, self-directed and charming with the public. Some experience in development is preferred, but not required. The Director of Development is a seasoned fund raiser willing to serve as a mentor. Excellent technical, organizational and communication abilities and proficiency in MS Access required. Experience with computer troubleshooting and grant research/writing a plus. Please send resume and cover letter to Peggy Sunshine, Director of Development, click here for email, as soon as possible; position is open immediately.

 2) Report by Blue Ribbon Panel

In response to criticisms by water suppliers and municipalities about new conservation-based water withdrawal permits, the legislature created a “Blue Ribbon” Panel last summer to determine the effectiveness of MA Department of Environmental Protection’s policy and guidance on the new permits. The Panel’s report, which was issued on December 31st, is largely a recitation of the water suppliers complaints and DEP’s responses, but does attach CRWA’s report on conservation and the science of water withdrawals.  The cover letter by Andrew Gottlieb, Chief of the Office of Commonwealth Development, whose office chaired the panel, offers a succinct and perceptive summary of the real issues fueling the suppliers’ protests, affirms that DEP basically “got it right” and suggests ways to move forward.
