1) Boston EMS Discount Day 

Eastern Mountain Sports at 1041 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston is having a special “Upgrade Your Gear” (UYG) sale for members of CRWA all day on Friday, April 20 (the store is open from 10am to 9pm). Tell them you are a member of CRWA, and you will receive 20% off your entire purchase (or 15% off kayaks). As you upgrade, please consider donating your old items to EMS’s clothing drive for the Shattuck Shelter, an organizations that helps the homeless reintegrate into the society through permanent employment. There will be a donations bin at the front of the store through the end of May.

2) 8th Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup, Saturday, April 21, 9am-12pm. If you’d like to help out, you can join at a drop-in site in Boston, Brighton, Watertown, Waltham, Needham, or Bellingham. For more information, visit www.charlesriver.org/cleanup.html or call 781-788-0007 x303.

3) 25th Annual Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race

4) CRWA Science Theme Park at Herter Park, Sunday, April 29, 10am-3:30pm. CRWA is transforming Herter Park into a festive theme park which celebrates and educates about life in the Charles River and in its watershed. Everyone is invited to view exhibitions, board a riverboat for an Eco Boat trip, experiment with a watershed model and celebrate the introduction of 1.5 million juvenile American Shad into the Charles River.  For more information, visit  http://www.crwa.org/events/2007/sciencefest.html
