1) Canoe trip on Sunday, May 20 in Dedham

Join staff and Board members of CRWA for a paddle along the Charles, hosted by Ned Watts, from 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, May 20. We will leave from 311 West St. in Dedham and paddle to Nobles and Greenough School. Charles River Canoe & Kayak will provide boats for those who need them. For more information or to RSVP, contact Rebecca Scibek at 781-788-0007 x200 or reply to this email. The deadline to RSVP is Thursday, May 17 at 5pm.

2) Great Park Pursuit adventure activity

This spring, as part of a national No Child Life Inside initiative, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is challenging children and their families to disconnect from their computers and reconnect with nature, becoming healthier as they enjoy active outdoor recreation in our state parks.

We would like to invite to join us in kicking-off this initiative with The Great Park Pursuit, a team challenge adventure activity that will bring families to state parks on six consecutive Saturdays, from May 19 to June 23.   Participants will enjoy a variety of recreational and nature-based learning activities – from hiking, fishing, canoeing, questing, learning about birds of prey, and more – and registrants who take part in all six events will be eligible to win major outdoor equipment prizes donated by Eastern Mountain Sports. The first Great Park Pursuit event will be held on May 19 at the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, and, similar to some outdoor adventure “reality-TV” programs, clues will be provided to registered participants about the location of the following week’s event. CRWA is a Coalition Partner for The Great Park Pursuit, and we encourage you to take part in the activities!

3) Rita Barron Fellowship year-long job opportunity

The Fellowship provides an opportunity to work in an exciting and dynamic organization under the direction of some of the country’s leading watershed scientists, focusing on a variety of ongoing programs including development of total maximum daily loads and restoring the urban water environment.  Tasks include research, writing reports, preparing publications, field work, data management and analysis, working with volunteers and constituents, making public presentations, and updating and maintaining the website. This is a one-year, full-time position, with a stipend plus benefits. The position is available in September.
