1) Brown Bag lunch

Join us on Tuesday, June 19th at 12:30pm at CRWA's office for a presentation on 'The Benefits of Bio-monitoring for Watershed Assessment' by Matt Ladewig and Carl Nielsen , ESS Group, Inc.

Bio-monitoring is essentially the process of identifying the living organisms in an ecosystem and interpreting the longer-term trends in water quality and aquatic habitat based on the types of organisms present and overall composition of the biological community.  Bio-monitoring typically focuses on aquatic insects, but other organisms such as fish, mollusks, periphyton and plankton may also be used to garner information about the aquatic resource in which they live.  The presentation will focus on the types of bio-monitoring programs that are regularly employed by watershed groups as well as state and federal agencies along with a discussion of the pros and cons of these programs and the relative level of effort and expertise required for their implementation.
