1) Save the date! CRWA’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 19th
Celebrate restoration of the Charles River at CRWA’s Annual Meeting! CRWA will hold its Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on November 19 at 5:30pm at the Newton Marriott Hotel. Join us to honor awardees who have helped restore the river, and celebrate our accomplishments at the local and regional levels in science, policy and urban restoration

The evening’s featured speaker will be Dr. Sarah Slaughter, coordinator of the MIT Sloan School of Management Sustainability Business Laboratory and the Sloan Sustainability Initiative, who will give insight into how innovations in engineering can change the way cities conserve vital water resources and withstand disasters. Her international perspective on large scale capital assets, including water infrastructure, is of relevance as she travels the world helping cities become better prepared to withstand disasters.

Go to www.charlesriver.org/annmeeting.html for more information and to purchase tickets, or click here to view a PDF of the Annual Meeting invitation.

2) Join us for a brown bag lunch discussingThe 200 Household Initiative” - Neighbors working together to slash multiple forms of pollution on Tuesday, October 14th
Each of us is a small pollution generator. According to the EPAhowever, together, we create serious pollution problems, especially in water quality, wastewater treatment, marine life, air quality, landfill waste, petroleum dependency, and more. Susan Buta of Buta Full Life, Int, will demonstrate the powerful, positive impact that neighbors can make on these pollution factors "right in their own backyard."

The 200 Household Initiative focuses on the pollution problems generated by everyday regular and even “green” chemicals in homes and offices on a daily basis. Powerful influences guiding our choices are highlighted, and criteria are outlined so there’s an objective measure for consumers to base their buying decisions for safe, responsible products. The presentation will conclude with a plan for how local groups can make major environmental improvements that are easy, economical, and realistic. This brown bag lunch will take place on Tuesday, October 14th at 12:30pm at CRWA’s office, 190 Park Road in Weston.
