Parkways Action Alert!

Action Alert! Help keep parkways under control of the DCR!

DCR parkways mapThe state Senate recently passed a transportation reform bill which would transfer ownership of the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) parkways, boulevards and bridges to a new “mega” transportation agency. DCR’s bridges and parkways - including Storrow Drive, Memorial Drive, Jamaicaway, Soldier's Field Road and Quinobequin Road - are an integral part of the Charles River parkland and are cultural and historic landmarks. Maintenance of the parkways is fundamentally different from that of highways, and DCR has had years of experience planning, designing and maintaining this integrated system of bridges, parkways and parklands. (This map shows all DCR parkways in red.)

How to take action

The House will likely be voting early next week on this bill, so please take action today!

Call and/or email your state representative and Rep. Joseph Wagner (Chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation, contact 617-722-2400 or Rep.JosephWagner@hou.state.ma.us ) today to voice your opposition to the transfer of parkways away from DCR. Click here to find your legislator.
