1) Boston Blazers partner with CRWA
With Earth Day right around the corner, the Boston Blazers pro lacrosse team is partnering with CRWA to end their 2010 regular season with a special recognition of environmental and sustainability initiatives. At the April 10 game (against the Minnesota Storm), $1 of every seat purchased will be contributed to Charles River Watershed Association!
CRWA has reserved a block of seats on the sideline, can be purchased from us for $20 each (regularly $38) - these tickets are a CRWA fundraiser, so even more of your purchase price goes to support the Charles! We'd love to have you join us for this fun event on Saturday, April 10 at 7:30pm. Bring your friends and family out to support the Blazers and the Charles River!
To purchase tickets from CRWA, contact Rebecca at 781-788-0007 x200 or charles@crwa.org.
2) CRWA Annual Meeting a Success
More than 150 river enthusiasts, community advocates, and environmentalists from throughout the watershed joined together on Wednesday evening to celebrate CRWA's accomplishments and honor those who have helped to dramatically improve the health of the river. The evening's keynote speaker was Curt Spalding, Regional Administrator of the New England EPA, who discussed environmental priorities for New England.

Richard A. Claytor, Jr. of Horsley Witten Group received the Clean Charles Award for his countless pro-bono hours working on water issues. Ginger Lawrence, of Beacon Hill, a recently retired Board member, was honored and presented the newly-named Ginger Lawrence Volunteer Award to two CRWA volunteers who give freely of their time and energy: Maureen Febiger of Wellesley, and David Dobrzynski of Frankin. CRWA's Rita Barron Award for Public Service was presented to MA Department of Fish and Game Commissioner Mary Griffin, who has brought about the protection of approximately 20,000 acres of land and is a key player in the state's new Sustainable Water Management Initiative. The Anne M. Blackburn Award was presented to Ken Moraff of the New England Environmental Protection Agency. His office of Ecosystem Protection has managed many high-impact environmental projects, and is responsible for regulatory changes that clean up stormwater pollution, and promote watershed health.
