1)
Attend the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) public forum
The MWRA
is holding a public forum next Wednesday, June 28th at
10:00 a.m. on its proposal to market water to communities outside
the MWRA service area. The MWRA’s proposal will have long-term
environmental consequences and we are concerned that it will
promote sprawl and water waste in eastern MA, as well as undercut
recent state water policy on “keeping water local.” Despite the serious
public policy issues raised by this proposal, to date there has been
little public review or discussion.
The forum will be
held at the MWRA board room at the Charlestown Navy Yard, 100 First
Avenue, Boston. For planning purposes, MWRA is asking people to RSVP in
advance to
Bonnie.hale@mwra.state.ma.us or by calling her at 617-788-1117 if
you would like to speak, or if you plan to attend.
This is one of the
most important water issues we will face in the next several years!
To learn more about the issues and CRWA’s position, visit our web
site at

2)
Collect water samples as a volunteer with CRWA
Love being on the river? Want an excuse to be outside this summer? We
are always looking for volunteers to help monitor the health of the
river! Become a water quality monitoring volunteer and collect river
samples once a month - usually the third Tuesday morning. Currently
we need volunteers at sites in
Bellingham, Norfolk, Franklin, and Boston. If you live in or near
these communities and are interested in volunteering, please contact
Rebecca Scibek at (781) 788-0007 x200 or via email.
3) Shop at Macy’s on September 16th
to benefit CRWA
Charles River Watershed Association is one of a select number of
non-profits to benefit from
Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” being held nationwide on Saturday,
September 16. CRWA is selling $5 shopping vouchers for this one-day
shopping event, with all proceeds from ticket sales going directly to
CRWA. For more information, go to our website at
www.crwa.org/events/specialevents.html
To purchase your
