The river may be beginning to freeze over, but the staff and
volunteers at CRWA are still going strong! Our Annual
Meeting last month was a rousing success, and we are already
beginning to prepare for our spring events. Thanks, as
always, for your support of CRWA and concern for the river!

people do."

Want to know more about the environment and Massachusetts
politics?
Join us at
this month’s brown bag lunch on Tuesday, December 12th
from 12noon-1pm at CRWA's office in Weston. Lora
Wondolowski from Massachusetts League of Environmental
Voters will review the last legislative session and
discuss the upcoming session with emphasis on the new lay of
the land for the environment. Who are the players? What do
they care about? What are the opportunities? How can we be
more effective? Bring your lunch and join us for this
informative talk!
2) CRWA’s Annual Meeting a
success!
About
250 river enthusiasts, environmental professionals,
students, religious leaders, and government officials
attended our Annual Meeting on November 15th.
CRWA presented awards to seven individuals and groups, and
Bill McKibben delivered an inspiring speech on global
warming and local environmental issues. Visit our website
for a recap of the Annual Meeting, list of awardees, and to
read the Milford Daily News article that about the event and
Bill McKibben’s speech:

Want to volunteer with this April’s Cleanup? Regional
coordinator needed!
We are
looking for a regional Cleanup coordinator
to help organize volunteer sites, coordinate groups,
distribute supplies, and be involved in preparation for the
April cleanup in the upper watershed – particularly the
areas of Medfield, Dover, Dedham, Needham, Newton and
Wellesley. If you are familiar with any of these areas,
want to assist with the Charles River's largest cleanup
effort, and have a few hours a month to help out (through
the spring), please contact Rebecca by replying to this
email or calling 781-788-0007 x200.
4) Spring 2007 event dates – mark your calendars now!
As always, check out website for a complete and updated
events calendar at

Last
year’s cleanup was the biggest ever, with more than 1,600
volunteers helping to clean the banks of the river from
Bellingham to Boston. Join us this year to help make the
entire river more beautiful and healthy. It’s not too early
to help - contact Rebecca by replying to this email or
calling 781-788-0007 x200 if you’d like to be involved.
CRWA is
gearing up for the big race - our 25th year of hosting the
