ANNUAL CHARLES RIVER EARTH DAY CLEANUP
All along the
Charles
Gather your
friends, co-workers, or your fellow members and join us as we help improve
the beauty and health of the Charles River and our parklands this spring.
Every year since 2000, we've had a thousand volunteers from various
organizations pick up trash in and along the banks of the river at 20
different sites in more than 15 communities. If you are interested
in organizing a cleanup for your group (it's fairly easy, we'll help you),
volunteering individually (we'll assign you a location), or more
information, please contact Teresa D'Anna at Massachusetts Community Water
Watch, (617) 287-3866 or teresa@waterwatchonline.org
(SOON!).
This event is
sponsored by the Charles River Watershed Association, Massachusetts
Community Water Watch, Charles River Stream Team, Senator Steven Tolman's
Office, Charles River Conservancy, Esplanade Association, Clean Charles
Coalition, and the Metropolitan District Commission.
*SATURDAY, APRIL

After the cleanup,
celebrate and head over to CRWA's table at:

Coolidge Corner

Come to the first
annual Earth Night in Brookline! This free event will feature the
award winning film "Pale Male" by Director Frederic Lilien, the
inspiring true story of red-tailed hawks in New York's Central Park and
how they united a community. After the film, Dr. Eric Strauss from
the Urban Ecology Institute and Boston College will talk about the
importance of preserving our local urban natural environment.
Moviegoers will also be treated to a slide show of Brookline's beautiful
natural environment with pictures from local photographers, and a short
film about the Muddy River created by Brookline High School students.
During the week, visit Brookline Booksmith for a special Earth Day display
of books about our environment. Sponsored by Brookline GreenSpace
