Milford Town Park Ribbon Cutting

Thank you to all who joined us to unveil new Green Infrastructure in Milford Town Park!

After years of collaboration, Charles River Watershed Association had the pleasure of joining with the Town of Milford, state and local leaders, project partners, and the Milford community to unveil two rain gardens and an infiltration chamber in the heart of Milford!

Stormwater pollution is one of the greatest threats to the Charles River––but green infrastructure solutions mimic the natural water cycle to stop runoff from polluting our rivers and flooding our homes, build resilience to climate change, keep our neighborhoods cool, create wildlife habitat, and beautify public spaces for all to enjoy.

Based on the Milford Subwatershed Restoration Study completed by CRWA in 2020, designed by engineers at Horsely Witten, and constructed by the Town of Milford, this project is a strong demonstration of what successful collaboration looks like and can serve as a model for future projects across the Charles River watershed and beyond. This project was made possible by the generous support of the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant Program of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.

The importance of this project cannot be overstated––located in an especially climate-vulnerable, environmental justice neighborhood, this project will serve to protect the Milford community from flooding, extreme heat, and drought, as well as serve as a permanent place for residents to learn ways they can help protect our shared environment.

Thank you to speakers Senator Rebecca Rausch, Representative Brian Murray, Town of Milford Highway Surveyor Scott Chrisafulli, Town of Milford Parks Director Jim Asam, Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program Regional Coordinator Hillary King, Milford Selectboard Chair Paul Mazzuchelli, Milford Select Board member Michael K. Walsh, and Christopher Testa of Milford Power Company.
