Streamer: Spring 1999

Canoe Trip for Beginners

Scheduled for June 26th.

Looking for an excuse to actually get on the Charles this spring and do a little exploring? Don't have any previous canoeing experience? You may be interested in participating in an introductory canoe trip on the Charles, Saturday morning June 26th. Sponsored by Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and open to the public, the trip is designed for beginning paddlers. Participants must be able to swim and be willing to wear life jackets.

The group will leave from Charles River Canoe and Kayak, 2401 Commonwealth Ave., Auburndale (next to CRWA), and will paddle upstream toward Weston and Wellesley. Participants may rent canoes or put in their own. This low-key, guided trip is a good opportunity for families and others looking for a few tips on canoeing basics.

To make reservations, call AMC trip leaders Wayne Jones at (508) 586-8928 or Bob Murphy at (508) 653-1149.
