Over 1400 paddlers competed in this year's Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race on April 26th. Late afternoon rain did not dampen spirits as they crossed the finish line in Herter Park, Allston. Serge Corbin and Normand Mainguy of Quebec won the 24-mile Professional Flatwater Marathon in a sizzling 3 hours, 4 minutes, and 25 seconds. Corbin has teamed up with three different partners to win the professional category for the last three years. Father/Daughter team Sherry (aged 72) and Hannah Proctor (aged 44) won the 19-mile Masters Division for the fourth year in a row. The Perrini Corp. "Snoopers" won the 24-Mile Relay Race, beating 105 other corporate challengers-- the largest number of corporate entries ever in the annual event.
