Communications and Outreach Manager

Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), an internationally recognized environmental research and advocacy nonprofit based in Weston, MA, is currently seeking a Communications and Outreach Manager to join our interdisciplinary and innovative team.

The position reports to the Executive Director but works closely with the Development Director and other program staff. This position is
responsible for planning, development and implementation of marketing, press and communications activities and events such as the Annual Earth Day Cleanup.


Responsibilities include:

Communications:
  • Draft, format, and send CRWA’s monthly e-newsletter and all supplemental off-cycle communications
  • Create content, including photos and videos, to support education and awareness of CRWA work and accomplishments
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to produce CRWA’s Annual Report, email and web solicitations, social media sponsorship acknowledgements, gift acknowledgements, donor stewardship, and other donor materials
  • Manage and update communications calendar
  • Manage website and social media presence 
  • Draft and distribute press releases and handle media inquiries

Outreach:
  • Collaborate with program staff to implement outreach aspects of CRWA’s grant-funded projects, such as project web pages, virtual/in person meetings, informational materials, social media posts, webinars and trainings
  • Manage CRWA’s Virtual Events Series
  • Manage customer relationship management (CRM) platforms (i.e. Constant Contact) 
  • Plan and execute Earth Day Cleanup and provide support for CRWA’s Signature Events

Organizational Support:
  • Maintain Board Portal and assist with Board communications
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries
  • Provide administrative office support after office reopening including: answering the phone, welcoming visitors, coordinating office repairs and maintenance, sort mail, create and manage staff email accounts, etc.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) required
  • At least 3 years work experience in the communications field
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with digital communications and related technology
  • Experience with social media and trends
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Experience with CRM software (DonorPerfect and Constant Contact are preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoys collaborating and working as part of a team
  • Must be able to work some evening and weekend events
  • Bilingual a plus

POSITION STATUS:           Full-time, exempt
