Carbon Dioxide

A gas found in the earth’s atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a naturally-occurring part of the Earth’s carbon cycle. However, human activity is altering this natural carbon cycle through the use of fossil fuels in transportation, home heating, and electricity generation; all of which emit additional levels of CO2. The over-abundance of CO2 in the atmosphere contributes to the “greenhouse effect” and the altering of climatic cycles; resulting in a warming climate, more severe storms, the melting of polar ice, and rising sea levels
