Watershed Science Internship

CRWA’s watershed science internship program offers on-the-job training in a variety of field science and watershed management tasks. Areas of focus may differ depending on intern skills and interest, but may include support for field science projects, the annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup, volunteer engagement, invasive plant management and removal, data management and analysis, and environmental advocacy.
CRWA's internship positions are open to all individuals participating in a facilitated program or earning a stipend or school credit through a university or program. Internships are unpaid but offer training in a variety of areas and provide individuals an opportunity to be part of an exciting and dynamic team.

Internship Details:
- All internships are unpaid, but in many cases, interns are able to coordinate with their school programs to receive college credit
- Internship schedules are flexible within normal business hours
- The internship program requires a commitment of at least 16 hours per week
- Interns work directly with CRWA staff and volunteers

Potential Skills Gained:
- Learning about important water quality and environmental issues
- Volunteer engagement, communications and event planning
- Professional experience working with a small non-profit organization
- Working with various types of water quality data
- Watershed mapping and spatial data display
- Grant and report writing
- Field investigations of water quality issues and rain event run-off monitoring
- Learn more about current CRWA projects
Desired Experience:
- GIS experience
- An interest in environmental and water quality issues
- Willingness to learn and ability to work independently
- A major or coursework in civil/environmental engineering, water resources, hydrology, biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Access to a car and a valid driver’s license is helpful
