Charlie Hagedorn

Charlie has held senior general‑management roles across multiple industries, including fast food, automotive lubricants, analytical instruments, and hauling, with leadership assignments in the United States, India, the Netherlands, and Argentina. His experience includes expat management, President and CEO roles, board service, and several major transactions, among them the sale of a Pennzoil subsidiary in Europe, a successful leveraged buyout and strategic sale of an analytical‑instrument company he owned, and the sale of the franchise he founded in 2015. Since 2013, he has also been an active angel investor committed to helping entrepreneurs succeed.
Charlie’s connection to the Charles River is long‑standing and deeply personal. He first sailed on the river in 1974 and, after spending nearly twenty years away from Boston, returned in 2001 to find the river dramatically improved thanks in part to the Charles River Watershed Association's work. An avid rower who participates in the Head of the Charles each year, Charlie spends most spring and fall mornings on the river. That long relationship with the river—and a profound appreciation for clean water—motivates his commitment to supporting the CRWA’s mission and contributing to the stewardship of this vital resource.
