SPRING 2026 INTERNSHIP
Climate Communications Intern
CRWA’s Climate Communications Internship offers on-the-job training and experience in climate resilience, community engagement, and communication. The intern will support our Climate Resilience and Communications teams. Responsibilities may vary but can include attending community events and tabling to promote CRWA’s climate resilience work, supporting our Charles River Flood Model and Tree Plan webinars, creating educational materials, and photographing events such as the Charles River Earth Day Cleanup, Run of the Charles, and Herring Festival.
Internship schedules are flexible within normal business hours (may need to work some evenings and weekends). This internship is hybrid.
Potential Skills Gained:
Learn about important climate change, water quality, and environmental issues
Stakeholder engagement, outreach, and communications
Professional experience working with a small non-profit organization
Working with diverse stakeholders
Event and workshop planning, facilitation, and implementation
Presenting about environmental issues and solutions at workshops and community events
Preparing graphics for handouts/brochures, newsletter articles, and public presentations for education and outreach
A deeper understanding of the climate resilience policies that CRWA is pursuing in the watershed
Research on a variety of topics such as climate resilience measures, flood control, tree canopy, and green stormwater management
Desired Experience:
Strong interest in climate resilience and climate communication
Willingness to learn and ability to work independently
Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; multilingual is a plus!
Preliminary coursework in environmental science, communications, or a related field
Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, and Adobe Suite (Videography, non-linear editing, and graphic design skills are a plus, but not required)
Experience with DSLR/mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras preferred
Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours
Access to a car and a valid driver’s license (strongly preferred)
