FALL 2026 INTERNSHIP

Climate Resilience Intern

CRWA’s Climate Resilience internship offers on-the-job training in climate and watershed resilience work in support of our Climate Resilience program. The intern will work directly with CRWA’s Senior Climate Resilience Manager and other program staff throughout the internship. Initiatives that the intern would work on include the Charles River Flood Model, Charles River Climate Compact, and other grant-funded projects.

Intern will support program work through various tasks, which may include:

  • Conducting research on a variety of topics such as nature-based solutions, flood control, urban heat island, and equitable community engagement practices

  • Conducting outreach 

  • Participating in programmatic and organizational meetings

  • Attending project meetings with external partners and community groups

  • Attending and representing CRWA at community meetings and events

  • Supporting event planning tasks related to project deliverables

  • Preparing materials, including handouts/flyers, social media posts, newsletter articles, and public presentations

Potential Skills Gained:

  • Professional experience working with a small non-profit organization

  • Learn about important climate change and environmental issues

  • Stakeholder engagement and outreach

  • Working with diverse stakeholders

  • Community and landscape planning

  • Event planning and implementation

  • Engaging in environmental advocacy

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • An interest in environmental and water quality issues

  • Willingness to learn and ability to work independently and within a team

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, multilingual is a plus!

  • Preliminary coursework in environmental science, stormwater, or a related field

  • Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, and Microsoft Office - social media savvy is a plus!

  • Geographic Information System (GIS) experience is a plus!

  • Access to a car and a valid driver’s license is helpful
