SPRING 2026 INTERNSHIP

GIS Climate & Restoration Intern

The Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) seeks a qualified spring intern to work on data and web visualization projects. Working closely with CRWA’s Climate Resilience and River Restoration teams, the intern will support interactive GIS mapping and data analysis projects that may include:

  • Flood modelling data

  • Climate resilience designs

  • Municipal data

  • Environmental justice populations

  • Priority habitat

  • Dams and dam information

  • Invasive plant populations

  • Stream restoration mapping

  • Water quality data analysis

  • Additional supplemental layers as needed

Potential Skills Gained:

  • Learn about water quality and environmental issues

  • Professional experience working with a small non-profit organization

  • Working with various types of water quality and climate data

  • Watershed mapping and spatial data display

  • Sharing science with the public

Desired Experience:

  • Willingness to learn and ability to work independently

  • An interest in environmental and water quality issues and advocacy

  • Preliminary coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, ArcGIS Online, StoryMaps

  • Coding software like R or python is a plus!
