Islay serves as CRWA’s Communications Associate, promoting the Charles River Watershed Association’s numerous initiatives in diverse formats, while maintaining a consistent brand. 

Islay started working with CRWA as a Climate Communications Intern in spring 2026, before graduating with a high-honors B.A. in Environmental Studies and minors in English and Creative Writing from Brandeis University. She wrote her honors thesis about marine conservation strategies in South Caicos, where she conducted scientific SCUBA research. During her time at Brandeis University, Islay worked as the Department of Student Engagement’s Social Media and Marketing Coordinator, which familiarized her with effective communication strategies. 

Islay credits her deep love of the environment to growing up in the Bay Area, where she was lucky enough to often go on hikes and to the beach. She continues to do so with her friends in Massachusetts, when not baking, crocheting, or reading!
