Clean Water Director

Max Rome serves as Charles River Watershed Association’s Clean Water Director, leading efforts toward achieving a swimmable Charles. He oversees the organization’s river science and stormwater programs, which focus on tracking river health and advancing policies and projects to reduce pollution.

Max holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University, specializing in how aquatic ecosystems process and recover from pollution. Previously Boston’s Director of Green Infrastructure, Max lives in Lower Allston and bikes along the Charles daily.
