Clearing the Current of Invasive Species

National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) 2026

This week (February 23-27) is National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW)! 2026 marks the fifth and final year of our Aquatic Invasive Plant Management Plan with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), targeting Eurasian watermilfoil and fanwort through herbicide treatments and surveying growth. To learn more about 2025’s results, click here.

You can be a part of this work! Invasive plant removal is made possible through the support of volunteers and donors committed to an invasive plant-free Charles River. Now is the time to contribute, as DCR will match your donation 2:1 up to $50,000!

Charles River

Charles River Watershed Association’s mission is to use science, advocacy, and the law to protect, restore, and enhance the Charles River and its watershed. We develop science-based strategies to increase resilience, protect public health, and promote environmental equity as we confront a changing climate.
