Defending the Clean Water Act

This month, with the guidance of CRWA’s new Legal Director, Jon Flynn, we submitted formal comments opposing an EPA proposal that would redefine “waters of the United States” and dramatically narrow the scope of the Clean Water Act. The Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in Sackett v. EPA already stripped protections from nearly 60 million acres of wetlands by adopting a narrow, literal interpretation of protected waters. EPA’s proposed rule would further limit the Clean Water Act, eliminating critical wetlands from the protections we need now more than ever. CRWA proudly joined the Southern Environmental Law Center, Mass Rivers Alliance, and 76 other partners to defend these essential safeguards for clean water.  Read our comments here and here.
