Successful Maintenance Training Day in Milford

On Monday, April 13th, CRWA hosted a Maintenance Training Day at Milford Town Park and Louisa Lake.  Over a dozen cohort members from X-Cel Conservation Corps were educated on the importance of Green Stormwater Infrastructure in flood mitigation and stormwater pollution treatment. They were taught best practices for maintaining rain gardens by members of the Parks Department. Together, they cleaned, trimmed, and raked several of the local rain gardens into tip-top shape, restoring the rain gardens to full function and gaining valuable insights which will prepare them for careers in conservation. Members of the Parks department appreciated the support in their GSI maintenance duties, observing that X-Cel members were enthusiastic and efficient in their approach. Ultimately these efforts also benefited the residents of Milford as they support flood control, pollutant filtration, and groundwater recharge throughout the town. Milford Maintenance Day truly was a win-win-win for all involved and proved the benefits of education and collaboration in supporting our natural and built environments.
