Each year, hundreds of thousands of migratory fish return to the Charles River to spawn. But many are stopped short by defunct dams. We need you to help collect data on the number of fish that pass over the fish ladder at Watertown Dam.
Attend our training session to learn about the Charles River herring and how to be a fish monitoring volunteer! Hear from CRWA’s River Restoration Director and Volunteer and Outreach Manager about these important migratory fish and a ‘Fish Monitoring 101’ outline on everything you need to know about becoming a volunteer fish counter.
The 2026 herring count season will begin on April 15, 2026.
