A Boatload of Fun: Third Annual Indigenous Paddle

In June 2025 we co-hosted the third annual Quinobequin Intertribal Paddle with Indigenous Peoples Day Newton along the Auburndale stretch of the Charles River (originally named the Quinobequin). We had a wonderful time, and it was especially powerful to hear remarks from Melissa Ferretti of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe and Julia Horinek of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma, discussing the impacts of sand mining and fracking on water quality. We are grateful to the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation (MOOR) for funding support that made the paddle possible.
