Cheesecake Brook Meadow Maintenance Day

On June 17, following the Cheesecake Brook Public Meeting, a Meadow Maintenance training was held by CRWA staff, guided by Eric Highers, Environmental Engineer for the City of Newton; and Ahron Lerman, Newton’s Director of Parks and Open Space. More than 20 community members joined us, along with Newton Conservators. We kicked off the training with a guided tour of Cheesecake Brook, stopping along the way to discuss specific plantings, green stormwater infrastructure installations, and the maintenance needs for these features. We got to chat with participants about why certain plant types were selected and about the present and anticipated final conditions of the brook. Eric and Ahron happily answered all questions and helped Newton residents understand and appreciate the great new improvements to Cheesecake Brook. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
