Cheesecake Brook Meadow Maintenance Day
On June 17, following the Cheesecake Brook Public Meeting, a Meadow Maintenance training was held by CRWA staff, guided by Eric Highers, Environmental Engineer for the City of Newton; and Ahron Lerman, Newton’s Director of Parks and Open Space.

Life in Cheesecake Brook
Earlier this month, we hosted a “BioBlitz” biological survey at Cheesecake Brook. We also joined the Native Fish Coalition (NFC) on a “fishing trip” at Cheesecake and were able to confirm that the brook can sustain aquatic life!
Stormwater Infiltration Basin Installed at Crafts St in Newton
Earlier this month, the City of Newton completed installation of a 50,000 cubic foot subsurface infiltration system along Cheesecake Brook at Crafts Street.
Newton Officials Break Ground on Project to Address Flooding (Press Release)
City officials broke ground today on an underground storage project along Cheesecake Brook by Albemarle field, which will store all of the untreated stormwater runoff from the six-acre neighborhood and help mitigate flooding.

On January 21, we toured Cheesecake Brook with the Native Fish Coalition (NFC) to discuss opportunities to improve fish habitat. That evening, we hosted a public meeting to give project updates and get feedback on upcoming outreach and project opportunities.

The Healey administration recently awarded the City of Newton $1.24 million to address flooding near Cheesecake Brook in Newtonville.
