Community Members Come Together to Discuss I-90 Project: What We Learned

I90

Thank you to the 30+ community members who joined us earlier this month to discuss the I-90 Allston Multimodal Project and share thoughts on design options to improve water quality and naturalize the riverbank. This project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reconnect the city and the river, and community members had a wide range of ideas and perspectives for improvement.

WHAT’S NEXT

The next MassDOT Task Force meeting is on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The meeting is open to the public, and you can attend in person at 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116 in the MassDOT Board Room on the 2nd floor, or click here to register for the Zoom.

(Click here for more information on directions and access.)

WHAT WE HEARD

  • Six lanes of highway on I-90 is preferable to eight lanes

  • The project should have a greater train capacity

  • MassDOT proposal does not have enough tree canopy

  • Parkland should have a natural look rather than a manicured design

  • There should be transit connecting West Station to Cambridge

  • There should be better access to the river
