CRWA in the News: Emily Norton on Jim & Margery

On December 8, CRWA's Executive Director, Emily Norton, appeared on GBH's popular radio show, Boston Public Radio, with hosts Jim Braude and Andrea Cabral (subbing in for Margery Eagan) to discuss MWRA's proposal to allow sewage to continue to be discharged into the Charles River. She was joined by Patrick Herron, Executive Director of Mystic River Watershed Association, one of our key partners in this work. Emily shared with thousands of listeners that, during a meeting with its Board of Directors in October, MWRA officials presented multiple options for addressing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) in the Charles and recommended adopting the option that would result in the largest increase in sewage discharges to the river.

As we reported last month, thanks to widespread outcry, the MWRA Board has postponed the vote that was supposed to take place on November 19. We must keep the pressure on so that they NEVER vote to approve more sewage in the Charles. Please visit CutTheCrapCharles.org to take action! Read more in the Boston Globe.
