Explore Godfrey Brook!

On Friday, June 26th, CRWA published a comprehensive StoryMap highlighting the history, current conditions, and future restoration opportunities along Godfrey Brook in Milford. Through a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grant, CRWA partnered with the Town of Milford and Woodard & Curran to investigate flooding, stormwater runoff, and potential green infrastructure solutions throughout the subwatershed.

The Godfrey Brook StoryMap covers the research, field assessments, and community engagement conducted over the past year. It also explores the ecological importance of Godfrey Brook, a headwater stream that provides critical habitat, water quality benefits, and flood mitigation services for downstream ecosystems within the Charles River watershed. Readers can also learn about the brook's historical transformation, existing environmental challenges, and proposed restoration and stormwater management projects designed to improve resilience to flooding and climate change.

The StoryMap was assembled by CRWA Stormwater Planning Intern, Jonah Lieberman, and brings together maps, historical imagery, site observations, and conceptual project designs into an accessible and interactive format. Residents of Milford, members of the Charles River watershed community, and anyone interested in local environmental restoration and green stormwater infrastructure are encouraged to explore the StoryMap and learn more about the future of Godfrey Brook.
