Help Track Cyanobacteria Blooms!

Cyanobacteria (blue-green or toxic algae) are naturally occurring microorganisms found in our waterways that can threaten public health, be fatal to pets, and harm the ecosystem. Help us track cyanobacterial blooms by joining our Visual Cyanobacteria Monitoring Program! Volunteers are assigned a site along the Charles River (in Boston, Cambridge, Newton, Weston, or Waltham) where they'll conduct a visual assessment of the water once a month (twice if there's a bloom) to check for and monitor the presence, size, and location of cyanobacteria blooms.

If interested, please email our Volunteer & Outreach Manager, Ryan, at rsmith@crwa.org.
